I'm a child of God, wife, mother, and teacher from Wisconsin. My husband and I met at Bible college and have been married for 22 years. God blessed us with three wonderful children, but our middle child, Blaire (pictured with me), has left us and was promoted to heaven November 19, 2024. Our heartbreaking loss prompted me to start this blog and share examples of Godly people from the Bible who came before us on how they worked through their loss. My hope and prayer is that this blog will be a blessing to you and help you through your loss.

Amram and Jochebed Trust God with their Precious Baby Moses (Exodus 2:1-10)

Blaire loved learning about ancient Egypt. Occasionally, she would watch Lost Treasures of Egypt by herself instead of cartoons!

She was fascinated with pyramids, Egyptian culture, and mummies for some reason.

She really wanted to know where Cleopatra’s tomb is located. We watched documentaries about Cleopatra and ancient Egypt in the weeks before Blaire’s first seizure.

She was so amazed to learn that one of her pediatricians grew up in the shadows of the Pyramids at Giza.

At one particular “well-child check,” the doctor spent about 30 minutes telling her all about Egyptian archaeology in his backyard growing up.

Her pediatrician’s stories completely enraptured her.

So, I thought I would head to the topic of Moses’ mother’s and father’s loss of raising him while in Ancient Egypt in honor of Blaire’s interest in Ancient Egypt. (I imagine Blaire has already tracked down Joseph—Moses’ great uncle—and Moses in Heaven and has peppered them with questions of their lives growing up in Ancient Egypt!

Royalty.

Adultery.

Loyalty.

Battle.

Hypocrisy.

Confrontation.

Remorse.

Grief.

Death.

Loss.

The historical account of David and Bathsheba’s affair 3000+ years ago came with far reaching consequences, the most immediate being the death of their son.

Even possessing deep faith, wealth, titles, beauty and accomplishments do not exempt any one from suffering loss on this earth.

Suffering is not unique to any one time period—it reverberates across the ages and among all humanity.

In my first ever blog post, I’m going to share 5 important lessons from loss that we can learn from a famous king who's been dead for 3000 years!
